Estate Planning

Estate Planning

People often are hesitant to discuss estate planning. They prefer to ignore the possibility of death instead of planning for it. I have more than 30 years of experience in the financial and business and industry, with nine of those years being in the legal field. I assist my clients in making make their plans for the future.

I will consider your entire financial situation and prepare documents for you to specifically outline how you want your assets to be distributed after your death. Although this includes preparation of your will, there are other documents that may also be in your best interest. For example:

  • Wills provide you a way to specifically determine how your assets will be distributed, who you want to receive what items and assets, and you can also specify someone who you do not want to receive anything.
  • Trusts take many forms. You may be able to set up the distribution of your assets in a way that your heirs avoid paying inheritance taxes.
  • Powers of attorney involve appointing someone you trust to make decisions for you when you cannot make them for yourself. A power of attorney may be as simple as designating someone to make financial situations for you during a certain period of time when you are out of the country, or as complex as making health-care decisions for you when you are unable to make them for yourself.
